The the biggest competition at university level, Rector Cup of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) 2018 is officially opened. The competition was from various branches from reasoning to Islamic things. The opening of the event was held on Saturday (10/3) at UMM Soccer Stadium. It began with the soccer competition of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) against the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) which was won by FPP with a score of 0-1.
The chief executive of the event, Nur Subeki, explained that Rector Cup is an annual event of UMM which aimed as a place of creation and achievement for students, especially those who were in second, fourth, and sixth semester. The theme "Smart and Elegant Competition to be Great Generations" is a reflection of the spirit of UMM in improving students' talents and interests.
"In addition, this theme also reflects the educational process developed by UMM in order to build the personal and mental qualities of students who are able to compete in a healthy and honest way," said Subeki.
That was also agreed by the Rector of UMM, Mr. Fauzan. As one of the annual agendas of the university, he asserted that to get maximum result in Rector Cup activities, it required good cooperation from various related parties such as students, department, faculty, until university.
"The Rector Cup activities become one of the UMM medias to educate each student to be a better person. The students must have strong power to compete," he said
By cooperation with the Student Activity Unit (UKM), the event started today from March 10th, 2018 to April 21st, 2018 and followed by a contingent of 10 faculties at UMM. All of them will compete for the rotating trophy of Rector Cup in which last year was successfully achieved by Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) as the General Champion of Rector Cup 2017.
