The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continues to create attractive and accomplished graduates. One of them is Hania Pratiwi Ningrum, a graduate from the Informatics Engineering study program who successfully became the best graduate at the 113th graduation in 2024. She managed to score various achievements and proud results. Starting from making the Herbify application, getting a leadership scholarship, graduating without a thesis, and so on.

“Through UMM's guidance, I also passed through the Ministry of Education and Culture's certified internship and independent study (MSIB) program. In fact, my scientific work also allowed me to graduate without a thesis,” she added.

Her interesting work is the Herbify application, which made it into the top 20 final capstone projects of Bangkit Academy Batch 1 2024. The Herbify app is oriented towards introducing Indonesia's native herbal plants to the public. The app has received hundreds of millions in incubation funding. “My team and I saw that many Indonesians are not familiar with Indonesia's native herbal plants. Yet many plants are efficacious for the body and health. When they are sick, most of them prefer chemical-based drugs or choose Chinese herbs that are known to be good for health,” she said.

This application has interesting features such as an herbapedia, which can be used to find out the types of herbs in Indonesia, and an herbastore, which is used to make sales of herbal plants. There is also a herbal talk that can be used to chat with the experts about herbs.

Apart from making applications, Hania also participated in various international conferences, such as the International Conference on Technology, Informatics, and Engineering (ICON-tine) in 2023. Through the conference, she managed to compile a scientific paper that she made as her final project so that she did not need to go through the thesis process.

He researched heart disease classification using predictive model development through hyperparameter tuning. His research utilized the decision tree algorithm (hyperparameter tuning), which is a method used to make decisions using decision trees. The main goal of his research is to improve the accuracy and reliability of decision tree models that allow health experts to make decisions.

Hania believes that her achievements were achieved due to the support of her family and friends. In the past, she had a dream to become an outstanding student but failed. Until finally she could make achievements in college. "Actually, I did not expect to be named an outstanding graduate at UMM. This is a matter of pride because I have succeeded in realizing my dreams and challenges,” she said. (tri/wil/put)
