Skills of the students of Nurse are not only obtained by attending classes and practices, but also international experiences that lead them to be professional, reliable, and capable nurses. Study Program of Profession of Nurse Faculty of Health University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) achieved an international achievement. Four students of Nurse Profession got a chance to join Elderly Nursing Training Program in Taiwan.
Those four students have passed the selection processes which were document selection and interview. 4 of 28 students who were selected are from UMM. They are Bagus Candra Buana, Deby Agustya Widyasuci, Intan Kurniaty, and Lutfi Nurina A.Abdullah.
The Dean of Faculty of Health, Faqih Ruhyanudin, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Sp.KMB said that this program can strengthen the knowledge, skills, and experiences of UMM Nurse students related to the Elderly Care. Faqih said, “UMM Nurses can go international, and this program can upgrade the knowledge and skills of elderly care”.
A lecturer of Faculty of Health UMM, Ns. Zaqqi Ubaidillah, M.Kep,. Sp.Kep, MB stated that ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) required nurses to be able to compete internationally. Zaqqi said, “UMM Nurses are expected to be able to compete with other nurses in Asia because of MEA. When those students come back to Indonesia, they have knowledge and skill in elderly care”.
The Elderly Nursing Training Program in Taiwan is a program of National Taiwan University of Nursing and Health Science (NTUNHS). They will depart next week (25/3) and will be in Taiwan for ten month. They will be trained at Elderly Care. They will get facilities by free such as place for living, Mandarin course, and 20.000 NTD/ month.
One of Nurse students who were selected, Bagus Candra Buana admitted that he is so proud bringing the name of UMM in Asia. He will share his knowledge and experiences he gets to his friends. He said, “All praises to Allah, I’m very grateful for this chance. I hope that I can share my knowledge to my friends when I already come back”. (lus)
