THROUGH Erasmus+ Scholarship, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) provides an opportunity for UMM students to experience studying in Europe for one to two semesters. For those who will register the scholarship, it is better to get to know Europe culture, one of them was through the film.
This what made International Relation Office (IRO) of UMM held a series of movie screening and discussion on April 19, April 26, May 3 and May 10, 2017. UMM IRO staff, Arofiatus Sa'diyah stated that, the movie screening and discussion activity was one of effort to bring the international world closer to the students.
According to Ofi, movie was very effective way for transferring information and culture. Lots of symbols and cultures were displayed through the scenes, such as how the way they dress, eat, and how to socialize. "The audience can also understand more quickly, because the media used is audio visual," she said.
The routine activities held each semester lifted various genres. In this semester, there were four film screenings from several countries. One of them is El Muno Es Nuestro, which played on Wednesday (19/4) for the first time. The Spanish film has succeed to make the audience interested in the culture and habits of Spanish society.
Instead of Spanish movie, it would also be played Bogowie movie from Poland, Boys Eating the Birds Food from Greece and the origin movie of Aferim from Romania. "UMM students are expected to take most advantage from this opportunity. In addition, UMM students can also have international network to excel in the international world," said Ofi. (Jal / han)
