The community development driving professor program of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang has spread widely. This time, the representatives of Bondowoso Regency visited the White Campus on February 17, 2023. The visitation and discussion aim to develop collaboration, which can contribute to society positively.

The Regent of Bondowoso, Drs. KH. Salwa Arifin has appreciated the help of UMM so far, especially in the agricultural field: to develop the organic agriculture system in Bondowoso. Hundreds of hectares have been cultivated, and 165 have been certified. Furthermore, 60% of the Bondowoso area is agricultural land.
The meeting also discussed the opportunity to build aviation tourism in Bondowoso. Salwa Arifin thinks that UMM needs to support Bondowoso to advance.
“Much tourism potential is located in Bondowoso. Unfortunately, available human resources still need to improve. Then, I expect UMM to be able to assist wider society so that Bondowoso can be more advanced and accelerate, which aligns with our jargon, “Accelerate,” he asserted.

The Regional Secretary of Bondowoso Regency, Drs. Bambang Soekwanto, M. M., also expressed a similar idea. He believes that aviation tourism is very promising. Primarily, it can be the first center of aviation tourism in Indonesia.
“There are several tours like this abroad. However, in Indonesia, this kind of development cooperation perhaps is the first,” said he.
On the other hand, the Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M. Pd., said that the collaboration mainly discussed the benefit of the people. Notably, the partnership of UMM and Bondowoso has run for a long time, primarily related to the organic agricultural system. Most people have even known about it.
Later, this organic agriculture can be integrated into a standardized agricultural product. It is necessary for the matters of the exporting process of organic farm products. The same thing also applies to the product which will be consumed by society.
He believes that in Bondowoso, various potential areas can be improved. Then, the role of campus cannot be inseparable from society. Literally, a campus is a problem solver for society.
“Therefore, UMM is ready to help and immediately contribute to society in various fields, either in the agricultural, aviation, renewable new energy systems, etc.,” ended the Rector from Kediri. (imh/wil)
