GENERALLY, Indonesian feels inferior of retirement. They often feel useless and unnecessary for environment. Consequently, they are not ready to face all the possibilities occured in the old days including how to get income to still be able to meet daily needs. However, it is not valid for University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) employees.
"The person who retired is a great person, because he has completed his service to UMM," said UMM Director of Farm, Rahmad Pulung Sudibyo. He was encouraging employees of their retirement at UMM Integrated Laboratory on Saturday (29/7). Rahmad at once leaked his successful tips on farming organic plant.
For Rahmad, entrepreneurship is how someone can see business opportunities anywhere and anytime. "Entrepreneurship is a mental process to generate more value or useful resources in new and different ways, through application of creativity and innovation to solve problems and create opportunities in life," he explained.
Despite not being at a young age, Rahmad encouraged the participants to start a business confidently. In the historical record, added Rahmad, many world leaders who started a business in the old days and succeeded. Rahmad recounted the persistence of Colonel Sanders, founder of famous fried chicken franchise KFC. He started doing business at the age of 66 years.
Besides Rahmad who shared his success story through organic plant, lecturer of Faculty of Animal Husbandry UMM, Ganjar Adhywirawan Sutarjo, also shared his success stories through Aquaponik model fish farming application. Aquaponic is an alternative to planting and keeping fish in one container. No less important, all participants were also invited to directly practice to make a medium for organic plant and aquaponics applications. (ard)
