WORKING with the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation (KSA) Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) of Republic of Indonesia (RI), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM)
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by both parties on Thursday (1/12) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, by Vice Rector of UMM Prof.Dr. Syamsul Arifi, M.Si and The Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Indonesia, I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja.
Syamsul said,"After the establishment of the study center, a couple of cooperation in the field of education, research, scientific assessments, and community service will also be developed," This cooperation included the publication of academic works, such as journals, magazines, and books about ASEAN regional relationships and cooperation.
MoU was signed by other 11 universities. Currently, 22 PSA has been formed and spread in some regions of the country. Syamsul said that according to the agreement, the first step of this MoU was ASEAN society public lecturer at UMM on December 14, 2016.
According to Syamsul, the establishment of PSA at UMM was one of the campus' efforts to promote the understanding about the implementation of ASEAN Economic society which had been started at the end of last year. PSA UMM was expected to become a place of education, socialization, and public advocacy especially related to MEA (ASEAN Economic Society)/
For managers, the PSA would be run under the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UMM. Syamsul continued,"Technically, International Relation study program of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences will set the next programs” . (Jal / han)
