It has been a month since the Malang Kanjuruhan Tragedy occurred. The incident left a deep sadness for the victim's families, including the child victims' psychological condition— those directly affected or witnesses in the Kanjuruhan target. Therefore, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), represented by the Assistant Deputy for Child Protection for Special Conditions Elvi Hendrani, is directly monitored. One of them is coming to the Psychology Service Post of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) at the end of October 2022.

Elvi said that the purpose of his visit with the team was to ensure those child victims of cancer receive complete protection, including the services they should receive. In addition, Elvi also asked the UMM volunteer team many questions about the challenges in the field and the data collection process for the affected victims.

She considered the coordination built very well, even with many volunteers, especially in psychology. According to her, the volunteer team is responsive and alert when victims want to ask for help.

"Even so, homework can be done, namely handling victims outside Malang Regency. Many victims come from various regencies and cities in East Java," said Elvi.

Not only coming to monitor, but Elvi also emphasized that the PPPA will assist in the budget aspect, both for short-term and long-term needs. For example, the implementation of community building in schools.

She hopes that all affected children can be adequately accompanied, especially from a psychological perspective. "I'm worried about the long-term effect on them. There is no assistance, no effort to help them through the trauma. So to prevent this, we will continue to guard the victims until next year," he said.

On the other hand, one of the UMM volunteers, Ferdyn Divanico Fawwaz Muhammad, said that the arrival of PPPA was a form of direct concern. Always support and provide input to volunteers at UMM in Kanjuruhan Events. It enabled the UMM team to see the performance progress and evaluate the activities carried out.

“Representing our fellow volunteers, I hope this visit can increase our enthusiasm in carrying out our duties. Especially volunteer friends who will go directly to schools to carry out psychosocial support for survivors of the Kanjuruhan incident. I think this is also a motivation for us to be in the humanitarian field,” Ferdyn hoped ended. (cdr/zak/wil)
