The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) continues to intensively socialize about the optimization of the use of alternative energy to prevent increasing of geothermal. This was done through embracing Higher Education to socialize more deeply about Energy Conservation. It is currently done by the government by building a renewable energy power plant. In line with government's efforts, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) as an eco-energy campus built Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH).
This congruence contrived Law Faculty(FH) of UMM in presenting the Director of Energy Conservation Directorate General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Sugeng Mujiyanto, on the Prime Lecture of Energy Conservation Policy Law Faculty on Saturday (3/3). In the opening session, Sugeng said that Indonesia with abundant natural resources must be utilized.
"Indonesia is rich. It has many natural resources that can be utilized as an alternative energy," he explained.
However, Sugeng had reminded there are some need and must be remembered, namely maintenance and control of energy use that should be considered.
"The energy that we have do not run out and use without any control," added Sugeng.
The event was held at Hall Teathre Dome UMM. Sugeng also said that Energy is needed to improve the quality of social life of the community at large.
"So, this energy is not only about how to be utilized, but also how the economy and the welfare of society can be guaranteed," he explained.
To maximize it, it is required the involvement of young academics, especially in creating alternative energy.
"All is expected to create new breakthroughs in the use of alternative energy," he concluded. (ard)
