UMM's Computer Science Program Receives International Accreditation from IABEE (Photo: Special) |
Good news has come once again from Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM). This time, the Computer Science Program at UMM has successfully obtained international accreditation from the International Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE). UMM's Computer Science officially received it on March 31, 2024. This achievement is also in line with UMM's milestone targeting every program to receive international recognition by 2026.
Ir. Galih Wasis Wicaksono, M.Cs, the head of the Computer Science Program at UMM, stated that they have been receiving many awards for a long time. One of them is the Provisional Accreditation (PA) from IABEE.
"Our participation in PA is also our effort to fulfil the criteria of General Accreditation (GA) from IABEE. Based on the results of PA, for about one year, from April 2023 to March 2024, we underwent the selection process," he said.

Furthermore, he explained that during the preparation and implementation of the accreditation assessment, a special task force had been prepared. One of them is related to the curriculum, which is based on outcomes or Outcome Based Education (OBE).
"In addition, we also had to align with government programs. We are confident that there is a positive correlation with our mission to advance the Computer Science Program at UMM," he said.
The pinnacle of the GA IABEE accreditation implementation was during the visitation conducted for the validation and verification process. The success in achieving this international accreditation makes UMM's Computer Science Program the first Islamic university's computer science program in Indonesia accredited by IABEE.

"In the Malang Raya region, only UMM's Computer Science Program has received International GA IABEE accreditation. This is external recognition as well as a positive affirmation for the team that has been part of maintaining a commitment to improving the quality and international orientation of education. Obtaining international accreditation is a boost for UMM's Computer Science Program to continuously improve the quality of education to produce competent graduates.
