Becoming a future leader in the era of disruption is not easy. They must own various provisions immediately, and they must face challenges. This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Mokhammad Najih, S.H., M. Hum., Ph.D. in front of thousands of students from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) at the closing of Student Day, last March.
Najih, his nickname, continues the challenges of future leaders. They are predictable. One of them is digital leadership which is already familiar with human life. Information technology seems to have become an inseparable part of life, from starting the day to sleep at night.
The country's leadership has now also shifted to potential young leaders. Call it Kim Jong Un, who has led North Korea since 24. There are also Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, who are both 38 years old, and several other country leaders.

"So in facing the challenges and demands of the digital age, youth must have various characters. Among them must be inclusive and dare to innovate. The youth must also have a digital mindset that utilizes technology to be effective and efficient. Not to forget the closeness to the community and quickly adapting and responsive to changes," he said.
The man born in Lamongan also provides solutions so that students are ready to face a fast-changing and dynamic era. According to him, building and increasing communication with friends and communities are one. Likewise, studying earnestly and getting busy provides benefits. Finally, create or get a job that matches your hobbies and skills.
"You can also use the 5C formula in developing yourself. Critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and character are five things that must always be developed and updated. I am sure this UMM White Campus student can be the main actor in advancing Indonesia in the future," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said that the White Campus provides students with two things to lead them to success, which will obtain academic supplies in lectures and leadership skills helpful when students return to society. "Leadership does not have to be interpreted formally, but leadership can also emerge informally," said Fauzan.
According to him, some of the characteristics of a leader are having a competitive spirit, being sporty, and not being easily complacent. Luckily, UMM students will be given and stimulated to improve these things as the lecture progresses. One of them is through Student Day, which is an annual campus agenda.
Even though UMM Student Day has been formally closed, this plan is substantially ongoing. He hopes that students can make proud achievements. Moreover, the White Campus always appreciates all student achievements. Both in the form of academic and financial awards.
"So, we encourage you to be useful people who provide benefits as the motto that we often echo, From Muhammadiyah for the Nation," he concluded. (apg/wil)
