The synergy between the East Java provincial government and Muhammadiyah can improve, including in economic jihad aspects, as emphasized by the Governor of East Java, Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.Si. at the Ramadan Discussion Event of East Java Regional Muhammadiyah Chancellors held at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The agenda conducted on March 25 invited Khofifah to present material and to close the event too.

Khofifah furtherly explained and highlighted that the piece of Sura At-Tawbah (The Repentance) verse 41 discusses striving with own wealth and lives in the cause of Allah. She also assesses that Muhammadiyah contributes comprehensively and constantly develops, including in the economic aspect.

Khofifah also stated that the data from the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the world's economic system would tend to be terrible by 2023. Interestingly, it will not be predicted to happen in Indonesia, but the government and people need to stay cautious. Then, the economic aspect must be improved and paid attention to.

She also discussed the urgency of the halal product guarantee. As a populous Muslim country, Indonesia must be able to utilize and maximize the opportunity. Primarily, the Muslim population will reach 2.158 billion people, or 26% of the world's population, by 2030. The halal product market is also massive and widespread: 62% in Asia-Pacific, 15% in Africa, 20% in the Middle East, and 3% in Europe-America.

The world's perspective toward halal products also supports the idea. For instance, the role of China has become the biggest exporter of Muslim clothing in the Middle East, and so has Brazil, which supplies halal poultry to the Middle East. Khofifah thinks that people, including Muhammadiyah ones, should utilize this chance wisely. It is related to the strategies and ways to compete globally, especially on the side of the halal product.

"Muhammadiyah, mainly its regional chancellors, can synergize with the provincial government to enhance the quality of halal products. For instance, it can be done in the strengthening and assistance process of halal products, including through the development of the Halal Product Information System (Trans.: Sistem Informasi Produk Halal [SIPAHALA])," said the Governor of East Java.

Khofifah also asserts that it can remind Indonesian people that they have excellent potency. The moment should be utilized, and Muhammadiyah is considered to be able to raise it and strengthens the economic system. "Especially when it is done during Ramadan. The reward, spirit, and result, God willing (Arab Trans.: إن شاء الله"), will multiply," she ended her discussion.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah East Java Regional Leader, Dr. dr. Sukadiono, MM., expects the revival of Muhammadiyah economic jihad to begin with the Muhammadiyah people in East Java.
