International Community Service of UMM Introduces Indonesian Culture in Taiwan

17 students from International Relations ready fly to Taiwan joining International Community Service program of UMM 

University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) keeps on struggling to achieve International recognition through Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM). UMM sends its students to abroad for doing International Community Service (KKN))

There are 17 students from International Relations go to Taiwan to run various community service programs in Meinong District. They went there on Thursday (30/11) until next two weeks and will run some activities that have been arranged a month before departure. .

Those students will introduce Indonesian culture to the people in Meinong by holding some activities. Based on DPPM observation, there are many Taiwanese who marry Indonesian people. Unfortunately, their grandchildren do not familiar with Indonesian culture.

Deputy Director II DPPM, Drs. Masduki M.Si. said that, “ Through this program, we will introduce Indonesian culture to the people there. There is also a community emporement such as Batik painting”.

Furthermore, Masduki said that the participants of this International KKN are selected students. They have passed some steps of selections including health test, mental readiness test, willingness, and sincerity in doing community service programs.  Masduki said,  “We already prepared and arranged this program since a month ago and those 17 students are mentally prepared”.

Masduki stated that Taiwan is the first country for International community service program held by UMM. Furthermore, KKN program will be broaden and developed to other countries in Asia. Masduki hopes that this program will be a chance for UMM students to increase their international knowledge. He said. “ Through this international program, I hope UMM students do not only have understanding about local knowledge but also have global understanding according to vision and mussion of UMM”.
