The introduction of New Student Studies (Pesmaba) at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is always awaited by many audiences, not only by new UMM students but also by the community and students from other campuses. That is due to the numerous surprises and diverse creativity displayed each year.

In 2023, new innovations were again featured in the opening of Pesmaba UMM. If last year presented a static jasmob and flashmob, in 2023, 6,000 UMM students would give a unique touch, namely a dynamic red mob suit. As a result, the existing movements allow the formation to move in motion.

This Red Mob suit is also unique and different because it does not use paper products. The first-year students only wear the colours of their hats and alma mater. That is undoubtedly UMM's way of supporting the green and clean environmental movement.

The messages delivered are diverse and substantial, especially concerning the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, it displayed all 17 SDGs logos, which are the world goals. That also emphasizes UMM as a campus that fully supports efforts to achieve these goals.

Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., UMM Rector, said that this concept emphasizes to the public that UMM is committed to realizing the SDGs for the nation's progress. Moreover, the White Campus has also actively participated in various important aspects of the SDGs, such as food, energy, water, and other fields.

Fauzan also said that Pesmaba is important as the initial foundation for students. How can they reach their potential and explore their respective passions? As a result, it will eventually contribute to and provide solutions for the larger community.

The dozen formations were not separated from the JasMerahMob coordinator, Jamroji, S.Sos,  M.Comms. He said there were 32 formations that more than 6,000 new UMM students successfully demonstrated. There are formations that form the writing of a resilient generation, ASEAN logo, SDGs logo, Center for Future Work, UMM Pasti, No Poverty, and various other forms. The many formations provided unique challenges and difficulties for Jamroji and the team.

"We have to create special codes in the field that allow dynamic movements. So that when aired, the image can move and not be broken. Alhamdulillah, the new students, team, and volunteers can work together in unison to run each picture," concluded the Communication Science lecturer. (*wil/fajr)
