Consistency is the Key to UMM's Success as a Visionary University

Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM) has achieved a remarkable accomplishment by securing third place as the most visionary university at the Abdidaya Ormawa event on November 10th. This achievement not only brings pride to the UMM academic community but also serves as concrete evidence of UMM's strategic role in the development of science and community empowerment.

The Head of the UMM Student Reasoning Division, Dr. Faizin, M.Pd., shared his thoughts on this achievement. According to him, this is a form of recognition for UMM's strategic role in sustainable development. UMM has a vision to become a leading university by 2030, supported by a strong commitment to developing research that improves the welfare of society.

"This success is the result of solid synergy among lecturers, students, and educational staff in driving research and programs that have a direct impact on society," he said.

Faizin also revealed that one of the key factors behind UMM's success is the university’s focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guiding principle in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. UMM has even established the SDGs Center, which works with student activity units (UKM) tasked with implementing sustainable programs. Through the SDGs Center, UMM ensures that every student activity is oriented towards sustainability, producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also socially aware.

The lecturer from Madura explained that sustainability is the main foundation for UMM in achieving this success. He emphasized that consistency is the biggest challenge, especially in maintaining commitment to both the hard and soft skills of students, as well as ensuring that research conducted remains relevant and beneficial to society.

"UMM's efforts to uphold its vision are manifested in various strategic steps, one of which is through student development focused on building capacities to face societal challenges. We must always uphold social responsibility in all academic activities. This is crucial, especially with the proper use of technology. Everything must have an impact on society," he stated.

This achievement is expected to serve as motivation to continue generating innovations that not only strengthen UMM's position nationally but also make a positive contribution to the nation's development. "Our hope is that UMM will continue to be known as a campus that not only excels but also becomes a pioneer in the development of sustainable education in Indonesia," he concluded. (vin/wil/Fajr)
