The highest appreciation of an artist is when many people enjoy their works. It is eventually the background of the FOCUS (Photography) Unit, one of the student activity units of UMM, to organize Work Exhibition. The exhibition presented various photography results from 4 different cities from the Jalan-Jalan Sambil Motret (Jambret) event (Trans.: Take a Walk While Photographing). The cities cover Gresik, Surabaya, Semarang, and Yogyakarta.
Some exhibited photos were of city buildings, community activities, natural scenery, and annual celebration held by people. This exhibition conducted last April raised the enthusiasm of photography lovers. The General Manager of the FOCUS Unit of UMM, Nurita Noviandari, said that this exhibition became a form of appreciation for FOCUS members and board members. Besides, it was a platform for them to show their best portraits.

"Like a photo of a cat in the middle of a door. Its composition is superb, and its moment is suitable. It even made it to the top 8 of the national competition. There's also a photo taken in Gresik, which portrays Gresik as an industrial city indeed. There's also a picture of river flows by the side of large factory buildings," she explained.
Another attractive photo is a human interest one taken in Lawang Sewu, Semarang, which depicts an image of a dancer in Lawang Seru alongside its works inside. Also, the picture portrays Semarang and its ongoing preserved culture.
"The Jambret agenda became one of our ways to explore ourselves. Hence, the members could feel the atmosphere of the joint hunting activity and produce their best works to exhibit," she added.
The woman known as Itha said that this year's Jambret program was held out of Greater Malang. The team of the FOCUS Unit took a lot of photos, but after passing the correction and selection process, the 20 best photos were selected to present at this Work Exhibition.
Additionally, the Jambret agenda is considered to give new experiences for the FOCUS Unit members. Raising the theme "Telusur (Trans.: Exploring)", this activity gave a new point of view of life through the camera: taking pictures and telling things that may not be known yet.
Therefore, she expects the Work Exhibition to be able to inspire students more about photography, so they not only take a picture but also learn its message and philosophical values inside.

Meanwhile, one of the Work Exhibition visitors, Muhammad Iqbal, said the photos exhibited were unique, adding to his reference and perspective on the art of photography. Notably, he has been fond of photography for a long time.
"I do love photography for a long time. We can explore and understand the meaning of an image through a discussion and an exhibition as well. Hopefully, this kind of activity can be continued and develop at the White Campus," he ended. (imh/wil)
