Visiting UMM, India Embassy Opens Mass Religion Gymnasium and Inaugurates India Corner

Bollywood euphoria that hit Indonesia a few years ago is back. This is indicated by the existence of Indian culture that still has a place in the hearts of Indonesian. One of them is through showing drama India. This is evidenced by the acquisition of a high enough rating for Indian dramas that aired on several national private TV stations.
 
Not only famous for artists, musics, songs,and dance, India is also known for the art of body fitness, namely Yoga. Located at Hellipad University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Sunday (22/04), there were 400 participants attended yoga gymnastic activities.
 
Participants who attended not only from the academic community of UMM but also Community Gymnastics Yoga Malang and the general public. UMM Rector, Fauzan, said that this event is the opening of the Indian Cultural Festival in Malang.
 
"This gymnast is the opening event of the Indian Cultural Festival held as a memorial anniversary of Malang," said the man who also hobby in tennis sport.
 
Present on this occasion, Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Pradeep Kumar Rawat who admitted very happy to see the anthropism of yoga gymnastics participants at UMM today. According to him, Yoga is the right sport for students who are accustomed to doing a lot of activity.
 
"Yoga as the art of fitness training is great for strengthening the body and mind for those who have many activities," he said.
 
Besides being attended by the Ambassador of India, there were also Jeevitha, Krishna Kumar, and Guna Shekhar. Three of them are Yoga gymnastics instructors who are presented directly from India. As a main instructor, Jeevithaa stated that Yoga is important because it can improve the health of organ function, improve the focus of mind and relaxation of brain performance.
 
"There is some movement in this gymnastics whose function is to make the mind relax," she said.
 
Mass yoga gymnastics was also followed by students of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) UMM as one of the teaching materials in Health and Physical Education courses.
 
Lecturer of PGSD UMM, Bustanol Arifin hoped that this Yoga event could be a real provision for students of PGSD UMM when they teach later on.
 
"I hope this can make a provision to teach in school," he added.
 
Also, Nikhil Kumar, students of Darmasiswa scholarship program who are studying at UMM admitted happy to see the high enthusiasm of Malang people to India.
 
"In India, I often do yoga. I am glad UMM held this event and brought me to Malang people who really appreciate Indian culture," said the student from New Delhi, India.
 
In addition to mass yoga gymnastics agenda, today was also the inauguration of Indian Corner at UMM. India Corner UMM will be at UMM Central Library of the 3rd floor. Fauzan hoped that India Corner can be a place to find information about knowledge and technology developed by India.
 
"We hope that India corner becomes a bright media for students who want to know more about India," he said.
 
The existence of India Corner UMM added to the number of places of cultural learning facilities and general knowledge about other countries that already existed in UMM such as American Corner, Aussie Banget Corner, Thai Corner, and China Corner. The series of events will be closed by watching "English Vinglish" movie, played by a senior Indian actress, the late Sridevi. (UMM Public Relations)
