Central Laboratory of UMM Strengthened Cooperation with BSN and SNI-Halal

FOLLOWING up cooperation with National Standardization Agency (BSN), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a Central Laboratory Workshop (4/11). This workshop was also held for the launching accreditation of ISO / IEC 17025: 2008 Central Laboratory of UMM and signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BSN and SNI-Halal.
"With this accreditation of Central Laboratory, UMM has become an important campus in the future. We will organize internal management in order to continue to get national and international recognition," said UMM Rector, Fauzan.
Meanwhile, Dr Elfi Anis Saati MP, as Head of Central Laboratory of UMM revealed that global competition from human resources and product form become an important reason for standardization. "UMM Central Lab is directed to improve the quality management system at UMM, and it has 51 labs, 25 Lab Eksakta and 17 Social labs. Thus, this Central Laboratory is a door to manage and coordinate all the labs in UMM," she said.
The Central Lab was awarded accreditation from National Accreditation Committee (KAN) of ISO 9001 in four laboratories namely Nutrition, Biotechnology, Biology and Food Technology (ITP) Laboratories.
Meanwhile, the certification test which achieved ISO 17025 was proxima testing from Nutrition Lab, total sugar test and protein test from Lab Biotechnology, total plate count test (TPC) from Biology Lab and antosianin test from Lab ITP
The workshop entitled "The Role of Higher Education in Enhancing Human Resources" was also attended by Head of BSN, Prof. Dr. Bambang Prasetya MSc, as well as Head of Center of Standard Implementation System, Dr. Ir Wahyu Purbowasito Setyo Waskito.
On this occasion, Bambang delivered materials related to the role of product standardization in order to support global competition. Bambang explained various kinds of standardization. "SNI is not only about helmets, there are standardization of risk management, policy standardization, up to anti-bribery certification," he said.
Then, the second material presented by Wahyu on the role of university science and technology and the importance of product quality improvement with SNI branding and halal certification in global market. (ard)
