Disaster Preparedness Volunteer Students (Maharesigana) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) returned to devoting themselves to the country. After struggling with the psychosocial handling of floods and landslides in Nganjuk and the earthquake in South Malang, they are now flying to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to help flood survivors.

Before leaving, they were given a lecture by the UMM Rector, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. On Friday (30/04). He said that this schedule was a humanitarian mission. "Goodbye to the volunteers who leave for NTT. Stay healthy and apply well covid protocols while there. Hopefully, this young movement can help ease the burden on disaster survivors in NTT, "said Fauzan.

When met on a different occasion, the chairman of Maharesigana Rindya Fery Indrawan said that the volunteers would visit two locations, namely Kera Island and South Central Timor District. Indra said that the team of six people would collaborate with volunteers from the University of Muhammadiyah Kupang.

"The volunteers that we work with will help the survivors for one week. There, we will provide psychosocial support. In addition, we also build educational services. On Kera Island, only public facilities are mosques. So we plan to build a mini library so that children can learn, "said Indra.

In addition, Indra also shared that the volunteer team would distribute hygiene kits in the form of soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and shampoo. The money to buy hygiene kits came from donations made by UMM maharesigana and students. "Volunteers who go to NTT also carry the mandate to distribute aid from the donations that have been collected," said the volunteer born in Indramayu

On the other hand, UMM Maharesigana coach Zakarija Achmat advised the volunteers to go there to always behave well and give a positive impression. "I hope the volunteers will learn a lot from this experience. I also hope that their presence will benefit the people there, "he concluded. (syi/wil)
