The celebrations of National Education Day (Hardiknas) were started in University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) today, Tuesday (30/4). As enlivened by UMM Library along with University Student Executive Board (BEM-U) in organizing several competitions, one of them was 3D Wall Magazine High School level.

By the theme of Library of The Future, this wall magazine competition attracted student’s interest. One of them was SMKN 12 Malang. “Because my hobby is painting, sketching, and make a pop-up book, me and my friends are participating in this competition. We wish that we can learn and sharpen our creatifity,” said Rosa Ayu Dewanti.

Rosa said, referring to the future library theme, she and two of her friends made a wall magazine with three spots. The first spot is the Go Book, where everyone can reserve a book by using a phone. The reserved book will be delivered by the courier. The Second spot is the Hybrid Library, it is a mixture between printed and digital book.

“Three of them are Virtual Library. So we made some spots such as Malang Square. We put an Automatic Book Machine in it. It makes everyone can access the book that they want to borrow by using their ID card and Scan it. After that they can search their book that they want to borrow,” she said.

Not just wall magazine competition, there were also several events such as student’s poster competition, book bazar, and National Seminar with theme “Students Character Education” that covers the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Library Forum of Jakarta Central University Saturday (4/5).

“This event was established for the students who come to the Library. It makes them not just reading a book, but also looking at a wall magazine exhibition. In the future, a university library will not just be known as an academic community, but also will be opened generally,” said Retno Widiyastuti Ika Wijaya, M.IP as the head of the event organizer.
