SEVERAL products of students of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) had been displayed on the 3.5 floor of Joint Lecture Building (GKB) I UMM on Thursday (20/4). The exhibition was part of the business plan and cooperative debate of the Rector Cup that was organized by UMM Student Activity Unit (UKM) Student’s Cooperative (Kopma) UMM.
A booth named itself Telimut, an acronym of Tempe Selimut. A Telimut’s designer, Nadia Amalia Rizkyta revelead that he and his three other friends had thought how to cultivate tempeh due to its characteristic as souvenir of Malang city. According to her, previously the tempeh in Malang City still marketed in an ordinary variant. Therefore, the student of Mathematic Education department created an innnovation so tempeh can be packed in different form.
With two of his friends, Meri Dwi Septiana and Harisandi, Nadia then created crispy’s blanketed tempeh. There were four variants of taste, namely brown blanketed tempeh, green tea, strawberrie, and spicy chocolate. Although made only for business plan competition, but the demand was quite a lot. Thus, in the future Nadia will plan to market this product to the center of Malang souvenirs.
The event coordinator Diaz Saputra, said that the business plan competition aimed to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of the students. Through an ability of business plan, the students will be able to create a business and filter the workforce. "Students made a business plan proposal as first step. Then, today they present their business in front of the judges, as product exhibition at once," explained Diaz who was also the student of Mathematics Education Department 2014.
Beside Telimut, other business innovations were veil and clothing made of perca, vegetable’s bakso, flower bouquet and even organic’s cilok. From nine teams, there will be three winners that will be awarded by UMM Student Affairs. (Naz)
