Rakhmad Rosadi, the lecturer of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), became the first doctor in Physiotherapy in East Java. His hard work and perseverance have made him one of the few lecturers in this field.

Rakhmad's success should be appreciated because only a few lecturers in Indonesia in physiotherapy have reached the doctoral level. Even in Indonesia, no university provides a doctoral pathway in physiotherapy.

"Alhamdulillah, I'm happy to get to this stage. This success is also due to the support of my family, my wife, my children and of course from UMM the White Campus," he explained.

The man born in 1987 said that his strong reason for continuing his studies at the doctoral level was that he wanted to develop knowledge in this field. Moreover, there was direct direction and support from UMM after completing his master's studies at Vincent Pol University, Poland.

"At the beginning of the college, there was a problem because the existing college majors did not match my competence. Finally, in my second year, I decided to move with a scholarship from the Taiwanese government to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Taiwan and finally finished it this year," Rakhmat explained.

In the finished dissertation, Rakhmat explained his research on knee osteoarthritis. During the research process, he had difficulty finding data because the condition was still in the Covid-19 situation. In the end, that can be done to get a doctorate and continue to strive to develop his knowledge.

"The pandemic has begun to subside and my studies have also been completed, I have started some of my other research," added the man from Jember.

Rakhmat, also the deputy dean III of Fikes, emphasized that he had run various programs in the UMM physiotherapy department. For example, rehabilitation centers with advanced technology, especially for spinal and head injuries. Interestingly, this program cooperates with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Perkeso (Jamsostek Malaysia).

"I think physiotherapy education in Indonesia is quite good, both in quality and quantity. However, I really hope that Indonesian physiotherapy lecturers can continue their studies. So that there will be more and more new knowledge that can be shared in Indonesia," hoped Rakhmad concluded. (put/zak/wil)
