MALANG Film Festival (MAFI Fest), event held by Unit of Students Activities (UKM) of Sinematografi Kine Klub of University of Muhammadyah Malang (UMM), becomes one of the best film festivals in the category of Film Festival Appreciation l in the Appreciation of Film Festival (AFI) 2015. The event which was held in Benteng Vredeburg Jogjakarta on last Friday (24/10), nominated MAFI Fest and the other two film festivals that are Purbalingga Film Festival and Denpasar Film Festival.
The Director of MAFI Fest 2015, Maharina Novia Zahro who attended the event held on last Friday stated that the existence of MAFI Fest is not to be underestimated for other filmmakers, especially for the local government. “During these 11 years, MAFI Fest can stand as the accommodation for those who are interested in developing films,” said Novia, a student of Communication Studies of UMM.
Not only the sacrifice of energy, but also material has been given by the members of UKM Kine Klub UMM and the MAFI Fest committees so that the oldest film festival done by the students in Indonesia can continue to exist. “Thumps up for the militancy of Kine members which decided to hold MAFI Fest so that it can still exist in the film world. The MAFI Fest committees are willed to sacrifice their time, energy, and also money. It is proved by the dues in order to hold this festival,” he said in his interview on Monday (26/10).
The entry of MAFI Fest as the best three in Film Festival Appreciation 2015 boosts the members of Kine Klub UMM, especially the committee of MAFI Fest in preparing the following Festivals. Andang Tri Saputro, the Chief of Kine Klub UMM, could hide his excitement and pride. “We are very happy and proud as MAFI Fest became the best three of Film Festival.
