Student Agribusiness Of UMM Facilitates Young Entrepreneur to Start Business

IN ORDER to prepare graduates who will be ready to do entrepreneurship in agriculture field, student of Agribusiness Department of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), which grouped in Association of Profession Organization of Agriculture Socio-Economic Student of Indonesia (Popmasepi) held talkshow and Student Leadership Management Training (LKMM) "Padma Ksatria 8" on Wednesday to Saturday (19-22 / 4).

Event organizer chief Andy Yani stated that Padma Kesatria was an annual’s Popmasepi agenda. This year, UMM has the opportunity to be a host of 250 participants from 58 campuses in Indonesia. The event on the theme "People's Business Credit" was aimed to make Agribusiness students do not feel difficult when they want to start a business, mainly for funds affairs.

"This time we present a key speaker from Bank BRI, ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, and successful practitioners of entrepreneurship through KUR. We want the students not confused to find a job, but to do entrepreneurship and create jobs, " Andi said.

Andy said that beside getting funds from banks, students can also get funds from local Cooperative Office. "Not only get business fund, but also to get a trick training how to start and develop the business, so students do not need to be confused to start a business from where or what will to do for their SMEs," Andy added.

In addition to talk shows, Padma Ksatria 8 also held an entrepreneurial bazaar in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), blood donors, free medication, seed and fruit distribution, and even education for kindergarten students.

"We give education to kindergarten children around UMM about planting crops in polybags, livestock feeding, or keeping fish at home. The goal is to teach children earlier about the world of agriculture in Indonesia," Andy said.

Meanwhile, LKMM would start on Wednesday night until next Friday. The given subject such as leadership, negotiation, marketing, even lobbying strategy. The speakers were presented from various fields, namely practitioners of businessmen, students, and lecturers.

Its peak, on Saturday there would be a launch of Popmasepi’s book which was a joint project with members. The preface of this book was written by the House of Representatives Commission IV. In addition, at the end of the event there was also a gathering of alumni Popmasepi that already spreaded in various parts of Indonesia.

"Popmasepi’s Alumni established since 2009 and will be present in this grand reunion, sharing knowledge to all participants, what will be done or created when become an  'alumni' of Popmasepi," Andy concluded. (Naz)
