It has become a distinctive tradition for the University of Muhammadiyah Malang to welcome new students (Maba) with the Personality and Leadership Formation Program (P2KK). This program aims to cultivate potential young leaders for the future. The inaugural P2KK session began on July 15, with over 400 participants.

Zen Amirudin, S.Sos., M. Med. Kom., Head of the Human Resources Development and Training Center (Pusdiklat Pengembangan SDM), stated that the program is designed to build strong and outstanding character among students. "This program is mandatory for all UMM students. Over the course of one week, they undergo various activities to enhance their personalities. Starting from early morning prayers to tahajjud, followed by classroom sessions covering topics on Islam, Muhammadiyah, and more. There are also specific activities to sharpen communication and teamwork skills," he explained.

Furthermore, the P2KK program is deemed crucial for students. According to him, students require diverse skills, mental development, and good character formation to succeed during their tenure at the White Campus. Especially since UMM students come from various regions, with diverse backgrounds in terms of origin, ethnicity, and culture.

"They are not allowed to bring gadgets during the program. This encourages students to focus on direct socialization with their peers, fostering closeness and making new friends," Zen added.

Meanwhile, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, SE., M.Si., emphasized to all P2KK participants the importance of serious participation and enjoyment of the various program activities. According to him, success does not come without a rigorous process. He also reminded them to uphold good manners and etiquette.

"Discipline, perseverance, and patience in undergoing this process are crucial. Do not forget matters related to good manners, as manners are the first thing noticed by society. Through manners, one truly understands knowledge," he expressed.

Lastly, he advised all new students to continue paying attention to the distinctive outcomes of UMM graduates. They should aim to be exemplary figures in society, providing tranquility and comfort with their presence. Additionally, they should consistently contribute positively and progressively to all layers of society. (Faq/Wil/Fajr)
