The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) student team made another proud achievement. This time, the happy news came from three new students from the Faculty of Medicine (FK) who won third place in the National Islamic Scientific Writing Contest (LKTII). This competition was held online by Universitas Airlangga (Unair) last Saturday (20/11).
One of the team members, Yasmin Zakiyyatuzzahra, said that the scientific writing that was included by his team discussed the new idea of mobile vaccination. In addition to reducing crowds when queuing for vaccines, this method is considered adequate to increase the relationship between health workers and the community.
“We worked on this paper in a fairly short time, less than two weeks. For the abstract part, we can finish it in three days. Meanwhile, the content section takes about a week,” said the student from Malang.

Despite finishing scientific writing quickly, Yasmin, as she is familiarly called, admitted that she had difficulties in the process as a new student who is still adapting to the world of lectures. Dividing the time for competitions and lectures is quite tricky. In addition, this competition is also his first experience participating in a scientific writing competition.
"Initially, I had fun participating in this competition because I had a lot of free time before the start of the lecture period. I never thought that the abstract that our team submitted would pass. We had thought of stopping because the lecture schedule was getting crowded. But in the end, my friends and I kept going because we didn't want to do something half-heartedly," said Yasmin

Apart from Yasmin, this team also has members Amelia Putri Nasution and Kanina Alma Dystanti. Yasmin is grateful that her team can get a third place even though this is the first time participating in a scientific writing competition. If given the opportunity later, Yasmin and her teammates would like to realize this idea of mobile vaccination to the broader community so that more people will benefit from it.
"Alhamdulillah, our team's hard work has paid off well. I thank the team members for not giving up on participating in this competition. This achievement made us even more motivated to participate in various competitions in the future. Of course, we hope that this victory can inspire other friends to excel," he said at the end of the interview. (cdr/wil)
