| Febriansyah Ramadhan, Gurnita Ning Kusumawati dan Anita Diar Farukhi winning the National Debate Legal Expo 2017 |
DELEGATION of debate Faculty of Law (FH) of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) recently won the competition of national law debate. Febriansyah Ramadan along with his two friends, Gurnita Ning Kusumawati and Anita Diar Farukhi won the first prize in Legal Expo 2017 which was held by Law Faculty of Atmajaya Catholic University in Jakarta on May 11th.
After passed the semifinal phase by setting aside Hasanudin University, the team went on to the final round and faced the team of Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Surakarta. As the first winner, the three debaters were rewarded 10 million rupiah.
Interestingly, before leaving for the race, all three have completed ten topics prepared by the committee. When they were interviewed at UMM on May 13th, they said "We have a winning principle before the game. So any topic that would be obtained on technical meeting, we are ready to finish it".
The research is usually done by a special team, but in this event, all the work done by the debaters themselves.
Ardiansyah who is the sixth semester student of UMM from Lampung Province said, "The consideration is because this is the first time for me and Anita joined the competition, meanwhile, Gurnita has experienced before. We have to feel how to draw up an argument and defend it. So, when the debate is started, we can really explore it. We will make collaboration with the research team if we already have many experiences”.
Ferdiansyah admitted that, this new competition is a way to win the Constitution Student Debate held by the Constitutional Court (MK) in June. In the previous year, the UMM delegation was confirmed as the winner at the East Regional level. "This year, we have to be a national champion," he concluded. (Can / han)
