Hobbies often pave the way for remarkable achievements, and this was the case for Javier Bhagawanta, an Informatics student at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). His passion for motocross has led him to numerous championship victories. Most recently, Javier secured second place in the Dewo MX Iwak Grasstrack and Motocross Open Championship Nassi Series 2025, held on February 1-2 in Kediri.
Uniquely, in this competition, Javier did not expect to compete against many riders with significantly more experience than him. However, this did not make him hesitant or discouraged. Instead, he saw it as motivation to push himself even harder to win. Javier shared that this experience was one of the most memorable moments of his motocross journey, as he had previously only seen his competitors on the news or social media.
Javier shared that his love for motocross began at a young age. He was always eager to watch motocross competitions on television but initially lacked the confidence to pursue racing himself. It wasn’t until junior high school that he finally decided to give motocross a try, receiving full support from his parents. He emphasized that parental encouragement plays a crucial role in nurturing a child's passions and dreams.
"Increase training, maintain physical fitness, get enough sleep, and follow a balanced diet to ensure peak condition during competitions. Despite my college schedule and numerous assignments, I always make time to practice. This activity keeps me energized and serves as a refreshing break," he said.
Javier admits that balancing his passion for motocross with his studies as an Informatics Engineering student is a challenge. When faced with a heavy workload, he must carefully manage his time to ensure he can train and compete. He often spends his evenings completing assignments before heading to practice. According to him, both his academic pursuits and his athletic potential must go hand in hand.

Finally, Javier encouraged the younger generation to actively pursue their dreams rather than simply waiting for opportunities to come. He emphasized the importance of taking action, no matter how small, rather than remaining stagnant. “In the future, I hope to win more championships, especially at the provincial and national levels, such as PON. I believe that with the full support of UMM and my parents, this dream can become a reality,” he concluded. (zaf/wil/mrh)
