Anissa Fitriani Harsari, often called Cece, is a freshman at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). She is also known as an international badminton athlete with an inspiring career journey. Born and raised in Malang, Cece grew up in a family of athletes. Her father and mother, who were also badminton athletes, have been her main supporters since she started playing the sport at the age of five. With passion and full family support, she successfully honed her talent to reach the international level.

Graduating from high school in 2023, Cece chose to continue her education at UMM, majoring in Communication Studies. On campus, Cece remains active in the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Malang Badminton Club (MBC). Despite a busy academic schedule, Cece consistently manages her time between studying, training, and other activities, including coaching and modeling.

"I always believe that education and sports are equally important. Even though my schedule is hectic, I still strive to maintain a balance between studying and training. If we stay consistent, everything can be managed," Cece said.

As an athlete, Cece has achieved numerous remarkable accomplishments. One of her most memorable moments was winning first place in the mixed doubles and women's doubles categories at the 2022 Governor's Cup. This achievement came despite her being in the recovery phase from a severe ligament injury. Another extraordinary feat occurred at the 2023 Police Chief's Cup, where she secured second place while enduring pain. On the international stage, Cece made history at the 2023 Batam International Badminton Tournament by clinching first place in two categories simultaneously.

"The 2022 Governor's Cup was an extraordinary experience for me. At that time, I was still recovering from an injury, but I kept trying to give my best. I learned that pain should never stop us from fighting," Cece said.

In addition to training, Cece also undertakes supporting programs such as gym workouts and swimming to maintain her performance. According to her, UMM’s support has been instrumental in helping her sustain her quality as an athlete. "At UMM, I feel very supported. They provide training facilities and even assist with funding for competitions. This really motivates me to keep achieving more," said Cece.

Not only active as an athlete, Cece also uses social media platforms like TikTok to introduce badminton to younger generations. "Through TikTok, I want to show that badminton is a fun sport and can be a great choice for anyone. I hope younger generations will become more interested in trying this sport," she said.

As a university student, Cece also aspires to build a career in communication. In addition to being an athlete, she dreams of becoming a host or reporter, particularly in sports journalism. She believes that her education at UMM will greatly support her in achieving these goals. Finally, Cece hopes her achievements can inspire other young people.  "The key to success is consistency, family support, and strong determination. If we believe and are willing to work hard, no dream is too big. I also hope that young people can take advantage of opportunities like the ones I have at UMM," she concluded. (*/wil/Ind)
