Students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) once again make the campus name in the international arena. Maftuh Ikhsan Nanda Kurniawan, a Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) student, won third place in The Best Project Group Project after presenting an education improvement project through an application at the International Conference of Istanbul Youth Summit 2022. The conference organized by the Youth Break the Boundaries (YBB) Foundation lasted for three days, starting from February 14-17.

Nanda, his nickname, explained that the educational application he developed with this team was named eduteers.id. The primary purpose of this application is to reduce educational inequality in Indonesia with the tagline Connecting the Gap. This application was developed with a fun learning model that contains quizzes and animated videos to attract students' interest in learning.

"We are not only making an application version but also a website version as well. Besides being useful for the teaching and learning process, the application and website from eduteers.id used to distribute education volunteers to underdeveloped, remote areas in Indonesia," said the student from Lamongan.

Furthermore, Nanda explained that when presenting this project at the 2022 Istanbul Youth Summit International Conference, he and his team had collaborated with the Homeland School at the Class 1 Medan Special Children's Development Institute (LPKA) for a trial application. The choice of the NKRI school as a test site was because Nanda and his team wanted to provide equal formal education to children in prison.

"The access to education that these children get after entering prison is very lacking. The entry of eduteers.id into their environment is also an effort to cut education inequality in Indonesia. So that all children can have the same opportunity to learn," said Nanda.

Regarding the achievements he got, the first child of two brothers admitted that he was very grateful to compete in the international arena and receive awards. Mainly to make the campus proud and make parents proud. Assistance and support from the campus also immensely helped him while in Turkey.

"Currently the eduteers.id application and website are still in the development stage. I hope that in the future there will be many parties who will help us in the development process of eduteers.id. For other friends, hopefully, it can be an inspiration to stay productive and spread benefits to the community during a pandemic," he concluded. (cdr/syi/wil)
