Hospitals should provide good services as the front line of health facilities. There are still many hospitals that need help with the administrative process. Because of this anxiety, a team of Industrial Engineering students at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) designed and developed the Patient Facial Detector device.
They are Adam Nur Abrori, Bintang Arifin, Nadya Safa Regina Putri, Nur'aini Isnawati, and Windy Puspika, who designed it. They surveyed the community and several health facilities regarding the slow administration process.
“From there, we got the idea to maximize digital technology to make things easier for humans. Mainly in administration at the hospital,” said Adam.
This tool is equipped with a computer and webcam to detect faces. Then it is placed at the front of the registration, and the patient must scan their face before meeting with the doctor.

"The way this tool works is that the patient comes and directs his face to the webcam, then the patient's personal data will appear automatically. This data includes their full name, place, date of birth, and the patient's medical record number on the doctor's computer screen," he explained.
Face recognition can be found everywhere, but the Patient Facial Detector has a particular advantage, such as synchronizing with the e-KTP. Thus, personal data will be displayed. "Usually, a media like this can only check temperatures, but ours is different," added Adam.
Adam also explained that designing a Patient Facial Detector took several weeks. Now, they are still developing programs and innovations to be used immediately.
Even though it's not finished yet, his team has made a prototype exhibited at the Pameran Perancangan dan Pengembangan Produk (P3) Teknik Industri UMM 2023 (Trans: Product Design and Development Exhibition 2023 of UMM Industrial Engineering ). This Patient Facial Detector innovation is also planned to take part in a series of competitions in various competitions.
"We hope that this innovation can help the process of health services. Moreover, the duration of health services is often caused by complicated administration. Therefore, with using the Patient Facial Detector, this process can be shortened," he concluded. (put/*/sep/wil)
