The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) never stops making achievements on the national stage. This time it came from one of the students of the Communication Studies Program, Dwiki Affian. He was successfully awarded the title of Putera Pendidikan Nusantara 2022 and took the position of Runner Up. The Indonesian Achievement Youth Association held the activity in early September in Bandung.
Dwiki, known as his nickname, explained that the reason for joining the competition was encouragement from the people around him and his desire to continue improving his quality before graduating from college. Dwiki's journey to the national stage was not easy because he had to go through a series of competitions from the local level.
"Incidentally, I used to be the champion at the city level in Blitar and finally continued to participate in competitions in East Java and managed to get the title of East Java Education Ambassador. That brought me to the national level and won this event," said the Blitar-born student.
For two months, he had to participate in a series of activities from the provincial to the national level. He has won many achievements during this series of activities. Starting from the first rank of the National Education Ambassador Competition Exam, the Second Place of Scientific Writing for Indonesian Education Ambassadors, and the Top 5 Go Healthy Projects.
"Being an Education Ambassador is very different from other ambassadors. Here I am required to know the world of education as a whole and provide insights related to this aspect," he said.
Of course, all his successes have not been without challenges, especially since his background is not a teacher-student and he has no experience in education. Even so, that spurred him to pursue other friends to be equal and be able to run particular programs.
"Besides, being an Education Ambassador is not just about having a good-looking face. But also seen from the program they have. For example, when working on the Go Healthy Project, my team and I carried out a health education program for people affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang," he explained.
Its success cannot be separated from the support of the UMM White Campus, which continues to encourage students to excel. He was lucky to study at UMM, especially in the Communication Studies Study Program. Armed with this knowledge, he even received praise from the jury regarding his public speaking. In addition, his research ability at the white campus of UMM succeeded in leading him to get second place in scientific work.
“So, all the knowledge that I got at UMM, I applied it in various competitions and events. So that they can lead to become ambassadors for education in the archipelago," he explained.
Finally, he hopes especially for young people not to equate the success of others with your own. There will come a time when the proclaimed dreams come true. Believe in every process that is treaded and later success will come by itself. (cdr/ros/wil)
