The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) never ceases to produce creative and talented students. One such student is Eldelafimeta, a freshman majoring in Indonesian Language Education who successfully published two novels. Interestingly, these books have been read a staggering 17.6 million times.
El, as she is often called, revealed that her writing hobby began as a casual pastime in 2018, which she uploaded on the online platform Wattpad. At that time, writing was just a way to fill her spare time, but unexpectedly, in 2021, her work went viral on TikTok. This marked the beginning of her journey as a book author.
"I also don't know why my writing went viral on TikTok. From there, Coconut Books contacted me to collaborate on the compilation and creation of my first book," she said cheerfully.
Publishing a book felt like a dream to her. Initially, she wrote to pass the time, especially since she postponed her university studies for several years. "My initial step into writing was inspired by Kak Luluk, a UMM alumna who wrote the novel Mariposa while she was a student. Later, Kak Luluk's novel was also successfully adapted into a film. That inspired me to be like her," she emphasized.

"With this second book, I feel more motivated and have set a goal to publish three books in one year. If possible, I hope my writings can also be turned into a film like Kak Luluk's work," she said optimistically.
Furthermore, this girl from Kediri has also prepared a podcast that she uploaded on various platforms, including Spotify. She hopes to expand her writing into various genres and motivate people through her podcast. She believes that one of the many ways to contribute to society is by creating positive work. Encouraging people to learn from novels and practice the goodness within them.

El also plans to use her work as her final project in college. Especially considering UMM's commitment to always support and appreciate its students. This includes encouraging students to graduate without a thesis and use their creative work instead. "I am very grateful to UMM for always supporting all my work. God willing, I will continue to contribute meaningful works and achievements that make everyone proud," she concluded. (ri/Wil/Fajr)
