Leveraging the Grant Land, UMM Establishes Vocational Agribusiness School

High reliance of society has made University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) receiving grant land from PT Galasari Gunungswadaya. Based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), land located in Gresik would be used by UMM to establish vocational Agribusiness schools.

The land covering 3.877 hectares was a subsidiary of Polowijo Gosari Group. Vocational school that would be established in form of a dormitory or boarding school. "In the future there will also be three floors dormitory used by students during their studies," said Ir Yunan Rusdianto MT as the school building designer.

Yunan stated, UMM had made grand design and master plan for the vocational school. Related financial, Yunan explained, vocational school estimated spend up to 34 billion

Rupiahs. During the meeting, UMM presented the draft plan of building that would be built.

It is not only the classroom and dormitory, but also would be equipped with practicum room in agriculture field. In the beginning of 2017, the school would be operated. “The beginning of 2017, there would be 6 local established. There were 2 laboratories, 2 teachers’ room, head master’s room, and also room of administration.” said Yunan.

UMM Rector, Fauzan said that, the school would include allocation of zone. There would be studying and playing zone. Furthermore, building the comfortable and enjoyable studying zone was a top priority of UMM.

In the future, rector said, this school was not only a learning resources, but also skill source where the students could have a good skills after graduated. The school was also be a media for UMM as a field research. “UMM students will also get internship here if it is necessary,” said Fauzan when the MoU running, Thursday (29/12) at UMM.

The head of PT Polowijo Gosari Group, A.Djauhar Arifin revealed his very deep reliance to UMM. According to Arifin, there are many smart and trustful people who were able to manage the education institution. “I only can donate the land, let UMM which continue the development and management,” said Arifin.
