| Performance of Muhammadiyah school students on the opening ME Awards 2017 |
MUHAMMADIYAH Education (ME) Awards is an annual event held by Primary and Higher Education Assembly (Disdakmen) of Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PMW) of East Java. This event is expected to be an appreciation for students’ achievements and works of Muhammadiyah students.
ME Awards 2017 officially opened by Chairman PWM of East Java Dr M Saad Ibrahim MA on Saturday (23/9) at UMM Dome. The opening ceremony also announced the winning schools of three categories: Muhammadiyah Inspiring School, Muhammadiyah Excellent School, and Muhammadiyah Outstanding School.
Besides, Senior High School 2 of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo and Vocational High School 7 of Muhammadiyah Gondanglegi launched book written by teachers and students of those two schools. Chairman of Disdakmen of East Java Arbaiyah Yusuf MA was so proud of this achievement.
Arbaiyah said,"It is very proud and is also a tribute to Muhammadiyah for actively supporting literacy activities to form a wider youth generation,".
The opening ceremony was followed by Education Conference by Prof. Dr. Din Syamsuddin and followed by teachers who have achievents from several Muhammadiyah universities around Java-Bali. Din spoke about the strengthening education character for youth generation as an obligatory task for Muhammadiyah to create religious millennial generation.
Meanwhile, 2200 participants from elementary to high school level attended the academic and non-academic Olympiad series, such as Islamic Competition and Muhammadiyah (Ismu) Arabic, Ismu English, Science, Mathematics, Media Innovation, Magazine, and Robotics. (lus)
