University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continues to improve its quality. Recently, the Government Science Study Program (IP) of the White Campus succeeded in obtaining Superior accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). The accreditation certificate has been in effect since last Wednesday (18/8).
The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UMM, Dr. Rinikso Kartono, M.Sc., said that achieving this superior accreditation also increased the reputation of FISIP UMM in the eyes of the public. This also increases the interest of prospective students to study at this faculty. "With the Superior accreditation, of course, the public's trust in the Government Science study program is getting better. This is an important step to guarantee the quality of education for them," he said.
Furthermore, Rinikso said that superior accreditation is a guarantee of quality in academic and non-academic fields. By knowing quality assurance through accreditation, prospective students will understand the quality in the university and the study program to be chosen. However, the achievements of the IP Study Program should not make IP UMM complacent because the challenges in the world of education are getting higher. "We encourage all study programs at FISIP to be able to obtain Superior accreditation. Of course, it is not easy, but it needs to have strived optimally and optimally, "added Rinikso.
On the other hand, the Head of the Government Science Study Program, M. Kamil, M.A., said he was very grateful for the success of IP achieving the Superior accreditation. This indeed cannot be separated from the support and hard work of various parties, especially the academic community of FISIP UMM. "This achievement means a lot to us as an effort to improve the standard of academic service for study programs. Thank you for the support from university leaders, stakeholders, the collaborative work of the task force team, and the entire study program team for their hard work, sincere work, and smart work," said Kamil.
In achieving this superior accreditation, the IP Study Program must meet several requirements determined by BAN-PT. Kamil said BAN-PT decided on two conditions. First, study programs must carry out collaborative synergies with faculties, universities, and other stakeholders. Second, study programs are also required to compile documents comprehensively and pay attention to accreditation standards. The purpose of this accreditation standard is to measure and determine the quality of the institution's feasibility.
"This accreditation requirement consists of several assessments, ranging from basic elements in the form of parameters to the assessment of key indicators that are used as the basis for determining the quality of higher education. In addition, faculties and universities must also manage quality control with the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI), which is based on quality standards and the quality of study programs," concluded Kamil.
