Be proud! UMM Taekwondo got 25 Medals at Once

The Taekwondo Contingent of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) won the championship in the Championship of the Taekwondo Ganesha Championship II at GOR Singodimedjo, Ponorogo, Saturday and Sunday (19-20/1)

In this 2-year event, UMM succeeded to get a total of 25 Medals. Consisting of 13 gold medals, 11 silver and 1 bronze. This championship was attended by at least 900 participants from various regions in East Java.

"My hope is that the medals that we brought earlier this year can be a race to improve the achievements and abilities of the White Campus Taekwondo athletes," said Hadi Nugraha, the chairman and coach.

The classes contested were Kyorugi and Poomsae. Kyorugi was a duel fight between participants. Whereas Poomsae was the art of punch, kick and defiance. UMM at least fielded 29 athletes and 2 trainers.

"During the competition, we were constrained by GOR capacity so we had to jostle with the other Contingents, Alhamdulillah, everything still ran smoothly," said the International Relations Department student.

No less proud, the good news also came from other UMM martial arts UKM. One member of UMM Inkado Karate UKM will compete in the international Karate championship in Italy on January 24.

She is Shofiyah Nur Yustina, a student of the Management Department at the Faculty of Economics and Business, will compete in the prestigious World Cup 2019 held by Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) in Italy. (Win)
