Economic Crisis and revival which was experienced by Indonesia, the quality of human resources has been the strongest fortress to withstand a more severe crisis. What our nation will be by 2030 or 2050, depends on what we are today and yesterday.
In 84th graduation ceremony which was held at Dome Hall of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Saturday (20/5), Minister of Communication and information Republic of Indonesia (Kominfo RI), Rudiantara said, "One rupiah and even trillions of dollars that we collect in 2030 or 2050, is the result of one rupiah we plant today. One rupiah that has been given by parents into your pocket when you were a university student is the investment which will be reached by this nation in the future”.
Around the year of 1990, Rudi who was confirmed as the honorary family of UMM on the event said that Indonesia was claimed as “Tiger of Asia”. Indonesia was even aligned with other “tigers” such as Hongkong, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and others. This kind of idiom was used to draw the countries that have high development in economy and industry. "Unfortunately, the financial crisis in 1997 temporarily dimmed our dream to become a 'Tiger'. Even in this period, we just have to struggle to overcome the crisis that spread into multidimensional domain,"
However, a fairy tale about Indonesia's economic prospects that are very potential to become 'tigers' in Asia never destroyed at all. Although the impact of the crisis can still be felt up to now, Rudianto asked the audience to continue to keep optimism that Indonesia will achieve its dream as a 'Tiger' in Asia.
He said, "It's time we look ahead, toward a brighter horizon. There is no reason to complain because the institutions of researchers and international consultants of economic conduct many research and publication about global economic. They mention how big our economic potential in the context of world economy”.
A projection of research released in February 2017 mentions, in 2030, Indonesia will become the ninth largest growth country in the world based on its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or Market Exchange Rate. Rudianto explained,” In 2030, the Indonesian economy is worth about $ 2.4 trillion, which in 2016 is worth almost 1 trillion US dollars, 950 billion more or less. In the year 2030, the value will increase into 2.5 times,"
Meanwhile, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) as well as the chairman of Daily Couching Council (BPH) of UMM, Prof. Abdul Malik Fadjar MSc delivered his speech in this graduation ceremony, he hoped that UMM can be the pioneer to keep Indonesia in unity. ”What this nation will look like in the future, it all depends on you.
