The Exciting Cultural Festival Officially Closed the Independent Student Exchange Program of UMM

The second batch of the Independent Student Exchange (ISE) Program  (Translated: Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka) of UMM was closed in the form of a cultural festival. With the theme Preserving for Jointly Eternal Diversity in Memory, the event was enlivened by students’ traditional dance performances and fashion shows from various regions.

Ruli Inayah, R., M. Si., the Chief of the Committee of the ISE Program, delivered that students directly initiated to organize this festival. With this event, they expect to get unforgettable memories so that it can strengthen their diversity relations.

“Another purpose of this festival is to introduce and preserve various cultures from regions in Indonesia. Therefore, the sense of unity and love for Indonesia will surround young people's hearts, " expressed Ruli.

This student exchange program was participated in by 47 students from various universities in Indonesia. Interestingly, they produced works like four books and 20 ISBN-legalised copyrights. The Directorate General of Higher Education certainly appreciated the work. The book tells the journey of inbound archipelago module students at UMM about exploring Indonesia's beauty and cuisine.

“I expect their learning activity for one semester in the archipelago module of UMM inbound to be an impressive experience so that it can be implemented in respective home regions. You have done many activities to know the diversity of Indonesia from your friends and participated in social movement,” stated Ruli.

On the same occasion, Vice Rector I of UMM, Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M. Si. officially and symbolically released the second batch of participant students of the Independent Student Exchange of UMM. He feels that this festival reflects the diversity and unity of multiculturalism.

“I think the mission of the program can be well-achieved. Thank you for choosing UMM as the host university. I hope that the gained experience can be impressive. We, with pleasure, are excited to rewelcome you at UMM if you intend to continue your education here,” uttered Syamsul.

On the other hand, Muhammad Hanif, a University of Bosowa Makassar student, feels happy because of being allocated at UMM. He was even involved in various attractive events of the White Campus, like PESMABA and the 35th PIMNAS events. Besides, he immersed himself in a social activity in Lebakharjo Village with the Maharesigana and the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center teams of UMM.

“Alhamdulillah, we can enjoy various facilities of UMM for one semester. There are eye-catching things, like a golf car, a lake, a duck boat, an adequate infrastructure, and a professional lecturer. In my opinion, UMM is not only a home but also a civilization place,” said Hanif. (imh/zak/wil)
