The prospective students of the Faculty of Medical Science and Pharmacy department, following the second batch of computer-based written tests, significantly increased. The total of test participants in this batch reached 1000 from various regions in Indonesia. The exam held on July 27-29, 2023, was equipped with a range of security facilities and exciting rides for the prospective students’ parents.

The Director of the Student Admission Affairs of UMM, Nurudin, said that the total number of rooms set up was 22. The admission committee also still used metal detectors to anticipate any forms of cheating during the test. In addition, they were also helped by local police to tighten up security.

Several requirements must be met to follow the computer-based written test:  being neatly and politely dressed and bringing identity and examinee cards. “Despite that, there is a change in the computer display when doing the exam. The user interface of the computer is made more comfortable and easier to understand, so participants will not get confused during the exam,” said Nurudin.

The communication science lecturer of UMM expects the second batch of this test to go smoothly and generate potential students. After that, UMM will equip them with a range of knowledge and skills, so they can be excellent human resources.

Interestingly, the computer-based written test of UMM has a unique way of entertaining the prospective students’ parents while waiting for their children to finish the exam. Parents can get on the golf carts to stroll around the university or ride the duck boats in the lake. UMM current students, who serve on the admission committee, also gave quizzes with prizes to the parents.

“I am so excited to ride these duck boats. I thought they were paid, but it turned out to be free. The provided golf carts also help (students’) parents like us not to walk too far to take (our) children to the exam center.” said Balsuni Alwi, one of the (prospective) students’ guardians.

On the other hand, one test participant for pharmacy enrollment, Ninis Niva Mudalilla, believes she can pass this exam. According to her, the White Campus UMM is no less excellent than other universities in terms of infrastructure and facilities. The woman from Jombang expects the best result since she has been well-prepared for the exam; furthermore, her parents always pray for her success. “Alhamdulillah, I can answer most of the questions well. Percentage-wise, I am a hundred confident that I can pass this exam”, concluded Ninis. (imh/zak/wil)
