Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM) successfully hosted the National Muhammadiyah & Aisyiyah Higher Education Student Scientific Week (Pimtanas) on November 21-22 this year. Thousands of students and academic staff competed to achieve excellence in various competition categories at this prestigious event.
The Vice Chairman of the PTMA Puspresma, Ir. Ahmad Kholid Alghofari, S.T., M.T., IPM, explained that this event has become a regular occasion held for the fourth time. It also serves as a platform for students to showcase their creativity and abilities at a higher level. "Just like PIMNAS, the Pimtanas event also provides winners as a form of appreciation for their hard work in the competition. I believe anyone can achieve success and also inspire other young people to innovate," he said.

Similar sentiments were expressed by Dr. Nur Subekti, M.T., Vice Rector III of UMM, who mentioned that there were eleven competition categories available. This number was almost the same as when UMM hosted the PIMNAS event a few years ago. He also discussed the phenomenon of Generation Z, which he likened to a strawberry generation—full of ideas and creativity.
"However, it must be accompanied by a diligent generation that can bring about change through creative innovations in the business world. With the advancement of technology, many young people will become leaders. Hopefully, in the future, Indonesia will enter the ranks of developed countries and achieve the goal of Indonesia Gold 2045," he said.
Furthermore, Eki, as he is affectionately called, revealed that the aim of this event was to provide opportunities and enhance the cognitive aspects of young people. He believes this event can train them to work hard, be persistent, and maintain good social relationships. He advised students to continue cultivating the habit of working hard and seeing opportunities for creative innovation.
Meanwhile, Fitri Arofiati S. Kep., Ph.D., from the Muhammadiyah Higher Education Research and Development Council (Majelis Dikti Litbang PP Muhammadiyah), stated that Pimtanas is an event to appreciate achievements and recognize accomplishments. It can also foster the spirit of the nation’s future leaders, who can carry the torch of progress.

The quality assurance of a university is partly measured by its ability to help students excel, which is a long journey that must always be improved and updated. "Currently, there are more than 168 universities, so this event can become a platform for competition among PTMA and other private universities," she said, as she officially opened the competition.
