Officially started, the event of the XVIII Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) Congress was opened by the General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Haedar Nashir. Located in the Hall Dome of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), the meeting of IMM cadres from Sabang to Merauke are scheduled for four days, starting from Wednesday to Saturday (1-4 / 8).
With the theme "Strengthening Pancasila as a Sukma Nation for Prosperous Indonesia", this conference was expected to be a moment to formulate strategic plans, both for internal organizational progress and the survival of Indonesian nation. IMM General Chairman of the Central Executive Board (DPP), Ali Muthohirin, explained the challenges faced by youth in growing the character and spirit of leadership.
"Even though we are young solar flares, but here we can become lights for the future of the nation. However, making our flares youth brighter is not without challenges. We have a lot of things to prepare to grow the leadership within us," explained the alumni of Syariah Department of Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) UMM.
Furthermore, with the spirit of Muhammadiyah the General Chairman of East Java Regional Leadership Council (DPD), Abdul Musawir Yahya, affirmed that the XVIII IMM Congress would give the contribution of thinking of bright ideas on the nation's problems by making Pancasila as a rationale.
"Hopefully, this conference brings brilliant ideas that can provide solutions to national problems," said the man from Makassar.
Being part of the nation's civilization, Haedar gave the spirit of struggle to Immawan and Immawati (a call for IMM cadres). "IMM and the members must continue to struggle in a modern way as it has been done by his father (red. KH Ahmad Dahlan)," explained Haedar.
Haedar also recalled the initial ideals of IMM, namely to give birth to Muslim intellectuals who have superiority both physically and mentally. This underlied Haedar's hopes in order to produce a national ideology affirmation mission for the IMM, Muhammadiyah, and Indonesia.
"Again considering the ideals of IMM who want to give birth to superior Muslim intellectuals, then from this mukmatar, the cadres can learn," he said.
As one of the figures born as Muhammadiyah, Haedar continued to contribute his enthusiasm to all IMM cadres at the conference. One of them is about affirming five advantages that must be possessed by all IMM and Muhammadiyah cadres. The five advantages include superiority in idealism of self and organization, excellence in organization, personal excellence, uniqueness of religiosity, and superior synergy.
"As a modern organization filled with the nation's best young people, don't ever forget about the five advantages that must be kept in mind and run by all cadres," he explained.
The event which will be attended by some of figures also received a warm welcome from the IMM alumni who now serves as UMM Rector, Fauzan, who said that IMM cadres must be the frontline in affirming Islamic values.
"IMM cadres must be responsible for continuing to affirm Islamic values and civilization as a reflection of devotion to the nation," he said.
Appreciation of the XVIII IMM Conference was also delivered by Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy. The man who also grows from the Muhammadiyah organization expressed his pride to IMM who continued to be consistent in upholding the Darul Ahdi wa syahada, which means the IMM cadres must have a typical view of the reformist modernist Islamic movement.
"Muhammadiyah and the IMM members must explicitly implement Darul ahdi wa syahada to create an advanced, just, prosperous, dignified, and peaceful country," said the Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive. (ard)
