Raisen the Standard of Graduation, The Prospective Students of UMM Increased

UNIVERSITY of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a written test for 2,756 new prospective students (camaba) on the first wave of regular path on May 8 . After doing the written test, camaba immediately took an interview in each department. Meanwhile, the results of written test and interviews will be announced on Friday,  May 12.

Previously, as many as 2,844 camaba had been accepted on April 28. Those number were camaba that passed through the invitation path from 9,108 students. Despite accepted without a written test, the camaba filtered through academic and non-academic achievement and required them to follow an interview test and herregistration on May 2  to May 4.

The secretary of the UMM New Student Admission (PMB) Dr Moh Mahfud Effendi stated that the number of students through invitation path were increased if it compared to the last year. "The increase reached 146%, last year only 1,944 students. This year, although the standard of value average increased from 75 to 80, but the enthusiasm of camaba to register theirself at UMM is also increased, " Mahfud explained.

Mahfud added that the interview tests was conducted to know the qualities and motivations of prospective new students that suitable to the will of each department.

Meanwhile, The first Vice Rector of UMM Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin said despite increasing, the number of UMM students were fairly stable in each year. He also said that UMM prioritizes the quality of students in accepting new students, either through invitation or regular.

"Although (they are) accepted without a written test, but the qualities of students who received through invitation hremains become a major point. UMM enthusiasts are increasing every year, the standard of values ​​are increasing too, interview test is one way to know the qualities of the students," he said. (Ich/han/naz)
