THE COLLABORATION between the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) have had continued to increase. Previously in 2012 UMM has became the first university, which has cooperated with OJK, nowadays its partnership more extended toward development of Islamic finance, Improvement of financial literacy, and consumer protection on financial services sector.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was conducted at UMM Auditorium on Tuesday (18/4) between UMM Rector Fauzan and OJK Commissioner Board Chairman Muliaaman Dr. D. Hadad. It was also conducted with the Muhammadiyah, which was represented directly by Central Executive Board (PP) Muhammadiyah Chairman Haedar Nashir M.Si.
"OJK is pricesely cooperative with UMM. Hopefully, the future cooperation can be more real, mainly related to society empowerment which is not only done by students but also lecturers," Fauzan said.
For Fauzan, the university’s role was very strategic, especially an attempt to socialize financial services. Further Fauzan also offered the establishment of a financial services study center at UMM Central Library namely OJK Corner.
As for the Muhammadiyah Haedar revelead that the cooperation at least has provided three benefits. First, to strengthens the system of financial governance, supervision and guidance in the Muhammadiyah’s invironment. In addition, this cooperation also supported the main economic development at the small and micro level.
"Finally, the development of Muhammadiyah in the economic pillar that recently has became a concern of Muhammadiyah," Haedar said.
Beside of the signing of MoU, the activities were also filled with the public lecture on theme "The Role of Financial Services Authority And Financial Services Industry Within The Development Of Sharia’s Finance In Indonesia". (Naz)
