ON MIPA PT 2018 Media Formation for Students Social Cohesion

University of Muhammadiyah Malang got the honor since it was selected as the host organization of the National Olympiads College of mathematics and natural science (ON MIPA-PT) 2018. The event was a huge Directorate learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Research, technology and higher education of the Indonesian Republic (Dirjen Belmawa Kemenristekdikti RI) which be held every year.

ON MIPA-PT held as part of an effort to prepare students in increasing the nation's competitiveness through quality improvement of MIPA. Held since 2009, this olympics covers the fields of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and Biology.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs Prof. Rina Indriastuti SE MS convey, ON MIPA 2018 there are 256 from 85 private and public universities. This amount is more than the previous year.

In addition, Rina Indriastuti states, not just a competition, this olympics is expected to be the platform of hospitality to bear the nationality of weaving. Participants not only compete, but also take a lot of positive things to take home to their respective campus.

"So there is a kind of unification and social cohesion for the better event. They would back to campus by bringing the lesson learned gotten, this could inspire their friends who haven’t have chance to participate here, "added Rina.

Being the venue for the event, UMM who just won first place in Indonesian Fire Extinguisher Robot Contest (KRPAI) the counter Robot Indonesia (KRI) Regional IV, have been preparing the best facilities for the event held from Friday to Monday (4-7/5.

As UMM chosen for the venue of event recognized by Rina is not without reason. For her, the campus climate like UMM can give positive impacts for ON MIPA participants.

Actually better to held olympics in campus, but sometimes we have to look for concept. I believe campus will produce a better result, for example in UMM. They get to know more campuses, she added.

Preparing the best facilities, Rector of UMM Fauzan explains that we have prepared a wide range of facilities and infrastructure in accordance with the required standards.

“We have prepared all the infrastructure in accordance with the standard. These efforts in order to minimize the problems that will arise, " he concluded.
