Uneven internet access in Indonesia has forced several schools to continue to carry out activities offline even during a pandemic. Because of this, the Student Community Service Team (PMM) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) conducted routine health counseling at the Prancak Madura Village Elementary School (SD). This schedule already implemented since last December 2020.
Vanieda Dwi Fitria, a team representative, revealed that not many villagers apply health protocols. This was seen when she and his team conducted a direct survey of the village of Prancak. Many residents are not disciplined in wearing masks and often crowd around. "The positive number of Covid here is indeed low. Maybe that's what made them pay less attention to health protocols, "explained the student born in Kalimantan.

Departing from this reality, they decided to educate residents regarding health protocols, especially for children who go to school offline. She admitted that their group activity program was welcomed by the local government. "We received assistance in the form of masks, hand washing soap, and hand sanitizers from the local Health Office," said Vanieda.
The second child of two siblings told about the various difficulties faced during socialization. One of them is the children who are not fluent in Indonesian, even though none of the team members can speak Madurese. "Children in grade three and above may already be able to use Indonesian well. However, none of the first and second-grade students speak Indonesian fluently. So we asked the teachers to help translate, "continued Vanieda.

Not only that, the UMM PMM team also had limitations in transportation access. Every day they have to travel for thirty minutes on foot from the lodging to the school. "Incidentally, the village head provided a place to living considered that we all come from outside the region. However, it is very far from the village entrance to the school. We also do not have a vehicle to use here, ”concluded the Law Faculty student. (apg /syi / wil)

(syi/wil)
