Students from Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM) conducted a Community Service Program (PMM) at the state elementary school (SD Negeri) Tunjungsekar 5, Malang City. The program focused on enhancing the entrepreneurial creativity of fifth-grade students by utilizing natural resources available in their surroundings, such as butterfly pea flowers. Rijal Alif Sofyan and his team taught the students how to make pudding using butterfly pea flowers on July 31st.

Interestingly, Rijal, as he is commonly known, along with his team, also taught the students about entrepreneurship by selling the pudding for IDR 1,000 per cup to everyone at the school. In addition to being readily available around the school, butterfly pea flowers were chosen as the main ingredient because of their numerous health benefits, such as being rich in antioxidants. The students were encouraged to recognize the potential of butterfly pea flowers and how to turn them into marketable products..

“We want the students to learn entrepreneurship from an early age by utilizing the potential around them,” he said.

Besides focusing on entrepreneurship, Rijal and his team also introduced yoga and meditation to the students. These activities aimed to help the students manage their emotions and prevent bullying, which often occurs in school environments. According to Rijal, yoga and meditation can help students become calmer and more focused, thereby reducing the risk of bullying.

Moreover, the activities carried out by PMM group 66 received positive feedback from the students. They enthusiastically participated in every session, from making pudding to practicing yoga and meditation.

Rijal also shared that one fifth-grade student expressed his joy at learning something new, such as making delicious pudding from butterfly pea flowers. Rijal and his team felt proud to contribute to the education and development of students at the state elementary school (SD Negeri) Tunjungsekar 5.
