University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) again expands its international network. This time, UMM White Campus received a visit from a professor from the University of Adelaide, Australia, on Monday (25/07). This visit was the first step for UMM to establish international collaboration and improve the quality of the Merdeka Campus Competition Program.
The professor from the School of Animal and Veterinary Science University of Adelaide, Dr. Farhid Hemmatzadeh, was happy to meet the academic community of UMM White Campus. He believes collaboration from different universities with different cultures can benefit many parties.
In addition to holding meetings, Farhid was a guest lecturer in the Center of Excellence program for fisheries in the shrimp class. The guest lecture conveyed the handling of AHPND disease in shrimp using bacteriophage therapy.

"My visit this time was to introduce a new technology we developed at the University of Adelaide for a bacteriophage display system. Maybe later, there will be other applications for research on vaccine development and the development of infectious diseases in the tropics, most of which are intended for agriculture," explained Farhid.
Farhid assessed that the educational environment owned by UMM was very fulfilling for the activities of the students. Both academically and non-academic. He also appreciated UMM's flagship innovation, namely dozens of CoEs that had been inaugurated. "Of course, I hope to be able to go to Bali and visit UMM at another time. He said that even with the collaboration that allows students to feel each other's lectures at each university.
In line with what Farhid said, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. I hope that we can realize this cooperation soon. It is especially considering that the University of Adelaide is a university with a good position in the QS World University Rankings 2023.
"With a good education ranking globally, the University of Adelaide will be a good partner for developing international activities. I hope that there will be many collaborations that UMM can do with the University of Adelaide. Both for lecturers and students," said Fauzan.

In addition, the Head of the UMM Fisheries Department, Sri Dwi Hastuti, S.Pi., M.Aqua, said that this visit was intended to finalize the cooperation program that they had made. These programs include guest lectures, research collaborations, media publications, credit transfers, and student exchanges.
"The arrival of Dr. Farhid went to UMM. Apart from being a guest lecturer, he was also an ambassador for the University of Adelaide. In the future, not only will aquaculture and animal husbandry departments cooperate, but other departments at UMM can also collaborate with the University of Adelaide," Sri concluded. (apg/zak/wil)
