There are still many people who stumble in legal cases because of a lack of literacy about the law. Starting from this problem, a team of lecturers at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) created an application called Maduhukum, an acronym for the law-concerned community. This team consisted of Nur Putri Hidayah, S.H., M.H., and Galih W. Wicaksono, S.Kom., M.Cs., as well as one professional programmer namely Muhammad Andi Al-rizki, S.Kom.
When interviewed, Putri said that this application was created as a means of expanding community literacy about the law. Through the features offered, this application can provide knowledge quickly and accurately. This application is also a digital-based advocacy tool.
"The data in this application is guaranteed to be accurate because it comes from laws, scientific articles, and judges' decisions. Besides, this application also connects the public to legal experts so that the public can consult regarding the problems they are experiencing, "said the lecturer at the Faculty of Law (FH).

Putri explained further how to use the Maduhukum application. The public must register first. Furthermore, the community follows or creates groups in the Maduhukum application. After that, the public can access the information that has been provided or consult with legal experts in the group.
"As we know, there are many diverse customs in Indonesia. Therefore, the division of society into certain groups will make the information provided to be right on target. Until now, there have been eight groups formed in Maduhukum. Seven experts have joined, ”said Putri.
This application is a research product funded by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) UMM. Maduhukum can be accessed easily by the public via the Google Play Store.

At the end of the session, Putri hoped that this application could help problems in society. As well as provide literacy about the law. "If people know the law well naturally, the community will avoid things that violate the law. I hope that in the future this application will continue to grow and be used by the wider community, "said the lecturer who was born in Banjarmasin.
Quoted from Maduhukum's testimony, Secretary of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI) Malang Raya, Naili Ariyani, S.H., said that this application was very beneficial. Apart from being a means of education, it can also help the community to solve legal problems.
"Compared to other similar applications, this application is much more intimate because it is community-based. Hopefully, the cooperation with the legal aid office can be carried out soon, so that the constitutional rights of citizens to get legal assistance can run optimally, "she concluded. (syi/wil)
