UMM Library Wins Award from National Library of Indonesia

Another proud news came from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). This time, the UMM library succeeded in getting an award as one of the ten highest data contributors to the Indonesia One Search (IOS) portal. This award was given by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI) last Tuesday (14/9), held via the Zoom channel.
Dr. Asep Nurjaman, M.Sc., as the Head of the UMM Library, explained that the UMM library was already part of the IOS. This is inseparable from UMM's efforts to develop library digitization continuously. "Several digitizations have been carried out by the UMM library, such as e-printing and digital library (Digilib). Both of them contain works of lecturers and students that have been converted into digital form," he said.
He continued that thanks to this change, who can access many works easily. It doesn't have to be at the library location. The public can also access these works from anywhere through various platforms. According to him, IOS is one of the platforms for providing written results that can be accessed quickly and contributes quite a lot in Indonesia.
Asep, his nickname, also appreciated UMM's policy regarding internationalization. This certainly has a good impact on the development of every part of the university, the library. It continues to try to transform the printed form into digital. In addition, it also builds an electronic system that is open source to create an international standard university.
Various activities are also continuously carried out to develop benefits and support academic productivity. Call it the assistance provided by librarians in the thesis success program for students. In addition, there is also assistance in the preparation of journals and literacy technology, such as Mendeley.
"In the future, we will also try to build a more modern UMM library by improving the quality of service in all aspects. It is also a supporter so that the Tri Dharma of higher education can be carried out smoothly and well," said the lecturer from Bandung.
Finally, the UMM Government Science Lecturer hoped that the White Campus academic community could increase collaboration and move forward together to create a contributing library. "The UMM library is ready to move towards internationalization following the university's vision, which is to become a university that is equal to other international universities," he explained.
Besides UMM, nine other universities received similar awards. All are considered to be the most significant contributors on the IOS platform. In addition, a series of universities are deemed to have succeeded in increasing people's love of reading through libraries. (apg/wil)
